“One is nothing without the dao heart.” Li Qiye said: “Cultivation is not possible without the dao heart, subjected to the fate of a withering mortal.”

She took her time before answering: “Ancestor Jiang, indomitable dao heart and immaculate talent. He still died in the end.”

“The dao heart doesn’t guarantee immortality. If you think that success is guaranteed by having a firm dao heart, it shows that your dao heart is not firm.” He said.

“You!” She needed a deep breath before responding: “If that is not enough to become an immortal, what more does one need?”

“Do you think immortals just fall from the sky? Was it so easy for the three immortals and your progenitor? The thing being proven is just the method, but the dao heart is not a method.” Li Qiye said.

“What is the dao heart then?” She asked coldly.

“The self.” Li Qiye said.

“Why is that?” She asked.

“One is worthless without a proper dao heart, it is the essential definition of the self.” Li Qiye said.

“Ancestor Jiang had everything, why did he fail? What’s the point of a firm dao heart if it failed him?” She asked.
